Sankaku Shotokan Karate Club Sankaku Shotokan Karate was founded by John Glasgow (5th Dan black belt) in January 2015. John started karate in 1986 under the instruction of Pauline Laville-Bindra 8th Dan and gained all of his grades to 5th Dan by Pauline Sensei. Pauline Sensei became the UK’s 1st female JKA (Japan Karate Association) black belt in 1967 and was one of the highest graded women in the world. At the SSK we practice the authentic art of Shotokan Karate to more advanced applied Karate. There are no styles in karate, Karate is the style” Gichin Funakoshi. Assistant Senior Instructor - responsible for running the individual dojos and representing the Senior Instructor. Club Instructor - black belt or above. Assigned to a particular dojo. Assistant Instructor - below black belt. Assigned to a particular dojo. Instructors have to attend a regular instructors course, which helps them to share and learn, and keep up with new guidelines and changes. They are also fully insured, first aid trained and DBS checked.
